Eye to I

Sighted sighting, meeting eyes,
noticing a smile so wise –
lightless light from this one flies
silent strains of knowing rise.

In that time transfixing buys,
hoping to eschew disguise,
cutting egotistic ties,
gazing ‘cross the gap that lies
between us and contains our cries,
sometimes bears aloft our sighs,
Clumsily each of me tries
self in each to recognize,
gracefully transcend the “I”s.
